Chrysoprase stone was known and found as roughly shaped apple-green nuggets throughout ancient history. Though we know and cherish it as decorative chrysoprase beads, the gemstone was originally used for mystical purposes: to heal the body and impart the strength of nature to the person wearing it. The green-yellowish color in the stone is due to nickel. The name "chrysoprase" can be roughly translated to mean "green gold".
When you start working with chrysoprase, you'll completely understand the origin of its name. The wondrous hues and colors that illuminate the stone from the inside create a charming illusion that you're holding a green dew drop in your hand. Used as beads, cabochons and pendants, green chrysoprase works very well in earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
