These labradorite beads are a speckled gray translucent color that looks normal, until light catches it in just the right way. Then, the labradorite stone proves its worth by lighting up with greens and blues, like the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis over the high northern plains. Another name for the labradorite stone is spectrolite, and it is a member of the feldspar family, perhaps one of its most mystical and transcendent members. Labradorite gemstones bring a gentle gray beauty to necklaces or bracelets that transforms into something awe-inspiring when they light up.
The frozen fire of the labradorite stone seems to emanate from inside, which prompted many Inuit tribes to believe that a tiny piece of the the Northern Lights was trapped inside the stone. However, the refraction is actually caused by light striking layers within the labradorite stone.
