Moonstone beads shimmer and dance in the light of the moon. Rainbow moonstone consists of three different colors, a pale white like the moon itself, a dark gray like the night sky surrounding the moon, and a light peach, as if a little bit of the sun's light was caught on the surface of the moon. Moonstone beads are famous for the way that light plays off of them. The effect is called schiller or adularescence. These coin-shaped moonstone beads in peach, gray, and white would fit very well with necklaces or sets of earrings inspired by the Art Nouveau period from the turn of the century, since that was a very popular time for the moonstone gemstone.
Given its name draws a strong relation to our mystical moon, it is no surprise that moonstone has a historical and storied reputation as a mystic gem.
