Pink opal is like a puppy's tongue, unadulterated pink and warm and happy. Opal beads such as these are ideal for earrings or bracelets that could also feature something rough to outset the smooth color of the pink opals, like pyrite. Opal is created when water permeates volcanic ash and dissolves other organic things, like shells or wood, which turns into the opal stone. The pink opal's pinkness comes from tiny bits of organic compounds called quinones. Pink opal is known as a common opal because it does not exhibit the flashes of fire and color that other opals do, but opalesence is a term coined to describe the milky sheen of a common opal, such as the pink Peruvian opal.
The Peruvian pink opal is a believed by some people to hold special healing qualities. If someone is suffering from a broken heart, the pink opal is thought to give them the strength to move on and open their heart for love again.
