The Oregon sunstone is a variety of sunstone found in Harney County, Oregon, and by the Lake County north of Plush. The sunstone gemstone is a mesmerizing stone resembling the orange and red colors of a late sunset. It often has a glitter that's caused by light reflecting off of copper or hematite crystals in it. Sunstone beads are a fun, celebration stone, meant to symbolize fun and setting negativity aside. Sunstone is a wonderful addition to necklaces and bracelets, and pairs well with black or cream-colored stones. To get a fiery look, try pairing sunstone with pastel yellow.
Sunstone is a fun, dazzling stone, meant to be used for eye-catching designs. The reflections from the red copper in the stone make sunstone beautiful in the sun, hence the name. The crystal is generally darkest in the middle and gets lighter towards the outer edges.
