The tourmalinated quartz is a visually powerful mineral that closely resembles granite. Tourmalated quartz is vastly different than any other stone, for its distinct black striations. The semi-opaque quartz bead amplifies the black veins that are made of black tourmaline, creating a true one-of-a-kind look to any look. These tourmalinated quartz can be worn alone as a necklace or bracelet or fashioned into an edgy, modern pair of earrings. .
The beauty of the tourmalated quartz is in its natural striations and veins. No two beads are alike. This makes for a wonderfully complex design that can be paired with other dark gemstones, like the black onyx, spinel, or alone- yielding a truly minimal look.
Tourmalated quartz is deposited in the fissures of rocks and can be found all over the world, most notably Brazil. Quartz will form differently depending on the conditions it grows in, sometimes yielding a beautiful trapezohedral variety. These quartz beads were cut in columnar, or tube shapes to best display this natural phenomenon.
